I find
the blind
know more than the seeing
Hypersensitive to the feeling
of exclusion
while the rest of us
are locked
in our goggles of delusion
depressed with our existence
of mediocrity
messed up by our resistance
to admitting hypocrisy
caught up arguing
over republic or democracy?
Because the harder thing to do
would be to go public
with our own Personal Policy
Based on integrity of daily actions
are we really qualified to demand
a leader fit
our EVERY satisfaction?
This is about as “political” as I get. My theory is that I am contributing 100% to the state of the World today, both the negative and the positive. So instead of simply jumping in the “he’s an animal, she’s a B%#*@!” conversation, without actually knowing people personally, is immature, gossipy, and ineffective in my opinion.
Too many people spend too much time demanding perfection from others when they don’t even stop to take a look in the mirror and say “hey, if I’m really this upset about the state of things, what am I doing to make it better?”
So I choose to focus on what I can personally do each day to improve the state of the world. Yes, that will include voting. And for some, it may include getting involved in their local politics, or having a persuasive opinion based on their personal view of things. I’m not saying that is an issue. I’m saying it’s an issue if that is ALL you are doing!
#dontbeaplankface If you don’t know what that means, it’s a term I attribute to Pastor Jim Burgen of Flatirons Church in Boulder, Colorado, who told the story in Matthew Chapter 7 verse 5:
“How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the beam/plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” aka… don’t be a plank face 😉
So, what does it mean to you to look at your own beam first? What do you think of? What calls from your heart and soul for you to grow and expand?
Generosity? Consideration? Kindness? Patience? Leadership? Creativity?
What gift are you withholding from the World that you know is meant to be shared?
